INFORMATION ABOUT THE SCHOOL
Little Montessori was started in 1999 and ran as a play-group for the first year, and for the last 18 years has run as a full Montessori nursery school.
As the name implies, this is a small school, with an environment which is manageable for a small child, resembling as much as possible a “home from home” situation. There is also a very low ratio of child to teacher.
During school hours, in addition to the usual Montessori work, the children have baking lessons, which are provided by Regina and myself.
Pottery, music, yoga and soccer lessons are provided by external teachers.
We also offer Kumon Maths homework supervision.
In Montessori schools the age of the children are mixed. This mixing of ages allows the younger children to emulate the older ones and the older children to build self-confidence by helping the younger children.
The school offers a small environment for the children where they are given the freedom to learn and grow as individuals. The individual needs and interests of each child are considered when doing lesson plans. We strive to provide the child with self-confidence, self-motivation and independence that will enable the child to achieve his or her potential as an individual. We also strive to have an open and honest relationship with the parent’s which allows for communication about your child to take place.
Our passion is to develop maths and language skills because we believe that if the children have a fundamental working knowledge of these two areas of academic learning all future learning will fall into place with ease. These are the two great domains of ability, and once they are mastered, the children should achieve success in all other areas of academia.
